It got pretty cool last night. Blankets were necessary and the furnace helped out in the early morning hours.
We toured Penn Wood Campground before leaving. The park was established by the PA Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club in 1973. The sixty-acre park is nestled in a beautiful and scenic wooded glen. The general layout is very attractive. We're camped along the edge of a large, open field where they hold rallies. Many permanent resident hillside sites surround the field. These sites are large, many are terraced and most are wrapped in trees. Carol met some residents who had known her father many years ago at Travelers Rest Airstream Resort in FL. It’s such a small world!
For Carol Brown ... See, many campers travel with their pets. |

The park chaplain has the only non-Airstream trailer. Does he need to pray for forgiveness? |

Our 267 mile trip today went north on PA 66, east on I-80 to Hazelton, east on I-81 to Scranton, and then east on I-84 to Greentown. Observation: PA roads and bridges aren’t vehicle friendly. Rough surfaces and potholes appear when you can do nothing to avoid them.
What’s special about Exit 78 on I-80? Well … you can get off here to see “Punxsutawney Phil”. We didn’t.
The drive past beautifully groomed farmlands, over green mountains and across bridges spanning deep valleys was breathtaking. People seemed to be hidden by nature.
Beautiful weather and sights along I-80 |
We’re camped at Ironwood Point Recreation Area. It’s a bit rustic. We’re in the woods and overlook Lake Wallenpaupack (yep, that’s how it’s spelled). It’s nice and quiet.

Wow! Someone who knew Grandpa?? I mean, I'm not surprised, really. But still, that was 30 years ago! It is a small, silver world ;-)
