Day 19 - (09/03) Change of Plans #3 - Waddington, NY (Day 2)

Early Morning
It looks like we won't be updating the blog for about 4 days.  We have to move to a non-electric site later today and will head into Canada tomorrow.  We learned last year that phone and internet use from Canada is really expensive.

Why the change?  We had a couple of "eureka moments" yesterday.  The first came as a question.  "Have you ever been to Old Quebec City?"  Carol had, Dick hadn't.  We're heading there tomorrow.  The second came as a question also.  "I wonder?"  It's less than a day's drive from Quebec to Bangor, ME.  So, we're going to Maine after all ... by a northern route.

Noon
Ah, the joy of change ... things are looking up.

Thanks to the park staff and a cancellation, we've moved to a site with electricity.  We also have a reservation in Quebec that includes free Wi-Fi (which normally translates to very slow).

We're headed to Ogdensburg to tour the Frederic Remington Museum and to do laundry.

Evening
The Remington Museum tour was a wonderful treat.  Thanks to Eva Remington, his wife, beautiful sketches, paintings and bronze sculptures fill the rooms.  The home and a great majority of the items on display came directly from Eva's estate.

Remington created over 3,000 signed paintings and drawings, and created 22 different subjects in bronze.  He died at 48.

Dick was amazed to find he was born near Remington's birthplace in Canton, NY and had traveled for many years near Remington's home in Ogdensburg without knowing it.
Frederic didn't live here, this was Eva's home after his death
The lobby is breathtaking

We returned to the campground, watched the sunset and met a young couple from Ottawa.  The wife was interested in seeing an Airstream trailer.  Carol provided a tour.
