Day 20 - (09/04) Quebec, QC (Day 1)

We awoke to rolling thunder at 7:15am.  Dick got up and moving quickly.  The trailer was connected and almost ready to go when a storm came through.  We waited about an hour for it to pass.  We're off to Quebec today.  It looks like a rainy drive.

Oui!   We’ve driven 280 miles into a province where the native tongue is not English, and we don’t speak French.  We became fluent in a few words during the day:  EST, QUEST, NORD, SUD, SORTIE and ARRÊT.  Hmm … EAST, WEST, NORTH, SOUTH, EXIT and STOP weren’t difficult instructions to grasp yesterday.

The route:  NY 37 east to Malone, NY 30 north to the border at Trout River, Rte 138 northeast to Chateauguay, QC,  Rte 30 north to Trans Canada Rte 20, and Trans Canada Rte 20 east to Quebec.

We’re camped at Quebec KOA, just across the St. Lawrence River from Ste-Foy.  The campground is large and packed with RVs this weekend.   We shared travel experiences with our gracious neighbors Ed & Elizabeth.  They’re from Toronto and have a large motorhome.

A thunderstorm hit at around 8:30pm.  It lasted less than an hour.

As expected … the free Wi-Fi was so slow we couldn’t connect today.
